My entire TBR: a Six for Sunday fail.

I was going to participate in this week’s #SixforSunday prompt, but instead this post has evolved into me sharing with you my entire TBR. My physical one, thankfully for the sake of my own sanity, is very small. My digital one, however, is a different story. I love rereading, so I always have books I’ve already read on my TBRs, but here I’ll only be mentioning books I have not read. For the sake of not letting this post get too out-of-hand I’ll also be mentioning up-coming releases very sparingly.

My Physical TBR

I posted a photo on Instagram a few months back with my entire physical TBR and it consisted of 16 books, none of which are books I consider a priority and all of which I do have a timeline for. My physical TBR has since gone down to 14 books, some of which have changed. These books have their own shelf on my bookcase.

This month onwards I’ve decided to challenge myself with reading a chapter of a manga or graphic novel a day, and with the final volume of Giant Days coming out this year, I expect my to-be-read graphic novels and manga is going to shrink considerably. That’s never actually been a goal of mine because I like always having a comic available to me and I tend to want to drag out the stories because I love them so, but I think it’s pretty inevitable with my new challenge. As for Life and Fate, I recently finished Anna Karenina so I’m taking a break from Russian classics at the moment. I’m planning to collect all the Vintage Classics Russian Series, and I’ve only read 1/6 so I’ll have to get a move on with that sometime soon. Crimes of Grindelwald I’ll pick up before the third movie is released for a refresher, and Children of Virtue and Vengeance I’ll read closer to the release of the last book in the trilogy so I can marathon the series. The Midnight Lie is a similar situation, I’m going to read that at the end of this year so I have a smaller gap between it and it’s sequel. As for the last three books, they’re textbooks and I’ll get to them when I get to them, hopefully this year.

My Audiobook TBR

I have an Audible account, but I listen to majority of my audiobooks through the library. I currently have 0 unread audiobooks in my audible collection, but that number will increase by 1 with the release of Age of Empyre. I tend to buy a new audiobook when I’m in need of one to listen to, so my audiobook TBR doesn’t ever really exist.

If we’re counting my Wishlist as my TBR then I have the following books:

2. Thick: And Other Essays by Tressie McMillan Cottom
3. Home Before Dark by Riley Sager

I’m really hoping the library will get Home Before Dark and then that book will move to my library TBR, as for the other two novels, when I get around to purchasing them I doubt they’ll be on my TBR for long.

My e-book TBR

I collect e-books through Kindle and Kobo. Having a Kindle is extremely convenient if you read ARCs through NetGalley, and as I’m living in Canada it’s Kobo that syncs up with Overdrive and allows me to read e-books through my library. As a result of having two e-readers I also have a mismatch of e-books through both services.

I keep track of my unread e-books by making sure to always mark finished books as read on the devices, then the devices do the separating for me. It’s not the best and I really should make my unread e-books their own shelf on Goodreads. I actually wish I had more manga on my e-book TBR because reading manga and graphic novels on the largest screen available to me is definitely my preferred means of consumption. I also do make an effort to read classics before I buy their physical editions, especially since e-book versions often come free or are available at the library. I do enjoy having romance novels available to me when I’m in the mood for something light and fluffy and a lot of those tend to be free as well which is why I have a few unread in my collection. Technically I’m reading and not particularly enjoying The Watchman and Other Poems, we’ll see if I finish or DNF it. As for my various short stories, I dunno, I don’t love short stories, so they’re never a priority and will probably stick around for a while.

This is it, this is where things get a bit out of control. My library TBR is the one instance where it doesn’t stress me out to have a bunch of books I want to get to.

To be honest at one point I was putting anything that seemed remotely interesting on my library wishlist or on-hold, and it got to the point where I would borrow something, read a few chapters, and then immediately return it due to lack of interest, so recently I’ve made an effort to read a preview before a book gets to be on my library TBR.

My Goodreads TBR shelves

When it comes to my TBR I primarily use Goodreads to keep track of books I have my eye on that I’m either unwilling to purchase just yet, or that I’m hoping the library will acquire. Here are my TBR shelves:

❥Want to read: I use this to keep track of both my physical TBR and e-book TBR, it isn’t always up to date, and as I keep my physical TBR together on it’s own physical shelf I rely on that over this digital list. As for the e-books, I really should give them their own shelf and keep better track of them.
❥Pre-orders: for books I’ve preordered physical copies of, I add these books to my WTR/TBR shelf after I’ve acquired them. I rely on this shelf quite a bit.
❥For TBR: this shelf houses books I want to read and purchase, usually I’m just waiting for them to go on sale before I do.
❥Library borrow: I very poorly keep track of books I want to borrow from the library here, I have a library wishlist through the overdrive app so this shelf is a bit redundant but whatever.
❥Potential reads: this shelf is for books that have caught my eye, usually these are books I’m hoping my library will eventually acquire.

I’m not going to be talking about up-coming books in this post (but if you’re interested in seeing the up-coming releases I’m interested in you can click here) so really the only shelf you haven’t seen is my Potential Reads shelf, it’s pretty lonely right now:

  2. What a cool post! I wouldn’t have the patience to write down all the books on my TBR lol. I noticed that You Deserve Each Other is on your list. I got an ARC of it last year and absolutely loved every second of it. I really hope you enjoy it once you get to it!
